You'll learn about childcare in a friendly and supportive environment. You'll work with experienced tutors who are childcare professionals. The course will introduce you to the knowledge and skills you'll need for childcare and will prepare you to go on to further study. You may also have an opportunity to experience a real work environment by doing a work placement. You'll study units including Human Growth and Development from Birth to Old Age, Food and Nutrition, Care of Children, and Play and Practical Activities. You will need to pay for specialist materials associated with this course. You will gain a CACHE Foundation Award in Caring for Children and Functional Skills qualifications in Maths and English. You may be able to move on to Level 2 qualifications, such as those developed by CACHE.
