You'll develop advanced cookery techniques and supervisory skills within a kitchen environment. While you're in college you'll take part in advanced practical skills sessions, portfolio building and theory and Functional Skills sessions. You'll work alongside and supervise others as part of a team, using high quality fresh ingredients in our fine dining restaurant. You'll have the opportunity to learn from highly experienced chefs, who have a range of specialist skills. Our on-site kitchens are equipped to a high standard, so you'll have a professional training environment. You'll come into college three or four days each week, plus one evening. You will gain a VRQ Level 3 in Advanced Professional Cookery (Kitchen/Larder) and Functional Skills qualifications in Maths and English. You'll be able to apply for jobs in many businesses, from small independent operators to national and international companies. Alternatively, you could move on to more advanced studies including a Foundation Degree in Professional Culinary Arts here at the University of Derby Buxton.
