General Foundation Learning - September

A key part of the course is meeting your individual needs. We will work with you to design a programme of learning that you can enjoy and achieve! You will also be studying English, Maths and IT at GCSE level or Functional Skills and will be given the chance through excellent support to grow and achieve at a pace that suits you from your own starting point. A variety of learning methods will be used to make learning fun and interactive, including classroom based activities, vocational tasters, practical assessment, work experience and volunteering within the community. You will study a range of Personal and Social Development subjects that will give you an understanding of topics which will benefit you in everyday life. You will also be given the opportunity to experience taster sessions in different vocational areas to give you more information about your choices in employment and further college courses. You will be assessed at the start of the course and a learning plan will be put in place to meet your individual needs. Everybody starts here: - Functional Skills in English, Maths and IT - Personal and Social Development units Choose bite size taster sessions in one or more of these: - Hairdressing - Beauty Therapy - Hospitality and Catering - Business - Engineering - Motor Vehicle - Health and Social Care/Childcare - Art and Design - Performing Arts - Music - IT - Public Services - Science - Sport - Employability - Media You can learn about work skills from our employability pathway and choose from a range of different vocational options. When you find one that you really enjoy and are suited to, you can begin training towards the qualification and progress to the next level of study or undertake work experience which could lead on to full time work or an apprenticeship. Students who have no GCSE results, or do not have 4 E Grades, or who have not attended some of their education and need to achieve an Entry Level
