You’d be surprised at just how much of today’s most exciting and innovative technology comes from people who have completed a manufacturing or engineering Apprenticeship! Fitters are highly skilled craftspeople who manufacture, construct, assemble and fit components for machinery, vehicles, installations and other apparatus or articles. Fitters are also responsible for the maintenance and repair of such equipment. This course will develop your skills and enable you to produce both precision and general engineering components by using hand fitting techniques and machinery together with the Health and Safety requirements in the workplace. The course is a mix of practical hands on training in our industry standard workshops along with theory work in the classroom. You will learn how to read drawings, blueprints or models, select and mark off materials required, measure and mark out, how to use hand tools and about drilling. You will also be taught how to fault find and how to dismantle and reassemble parts required to complete the machine or article as well as inspect and test the final assembly for true fit. The programme will include mandatory requirements of the Apprenticeship framework; an NVQ, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT.
