You will cover a variety of aspects of Public Services. This is a 2 year programme and the course is made up of units including: - Government Policies and the Uniformed Public Services - Leadership and Teamwork in the Unifromed Public Services - Citizenship, Diversity and the Uniformed Public Services - Understanding Discipline in the Uniformed Public Services - Physical Preparation, Health and Lifestyle for the Uniformed Public Service - Skills for Land-based Outdoor and Adventurous Activities - Skills for Water-based Outdoor and Adventurous Activities - Command and Control The second year of the course is available to all students who successfully achieve the BTEC 90 Credit Diploma. The method of learning is a mixture of tutor led, role play and practical sessions. Tutors expect full participation in practical lessons. Successful completion of this course will help you to join any of the Armed Forces or Emergency Services. You could choose employment in the following areas: Police Force, Fire and Rescue, Ambulance Service, Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army, Royal Air Force, Customs and Excise, Coast Guard, Civil Service, Nursing, Local Government, Security Industry or the Leisure Industry. Alternatively, you may wish to progress to university with the aim of fast-tracking to higher ranks within the public services. The course is for students who wish to progress to the National Extended Diploma in Public Services (year 2) or higher education or employment.

Students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of enrichment activities that are available. This includes possible entry to the College Football Team. None marking sole trainers are required for all activities in the Sports Hall. Students are expected to behave, be punctual and dress appropriately at all times. It is compulsory for polo shirts to be worn throughout sessions and attendance at any trips arranged. Costs are as follows: - £57 - Trips - £10 - Polo shirt The above costs are approximate and payable at enrolment. If you are aged 19 or over on 1st September you will be required to pay an exam fee of approximately £175 at enrolment. These are non-refundable costs.
