You will cover a wide range of dance techniques, contextual related activities and gain performance experience. The Diploma is a 2 year course and on this course, there is a mixture of theory-based and practical sessions. Core units include: - Performance Workshop - Performing Arts Business - Historical Context of the Arts - Rehearsing - Performing - Award in the Arts Year 1 Units: - The Healthy Performer - Developing Classical Ballet - Developing Contemporary Dance - Urban Street - Dance Appreciation - Award in the Arts at Bronze Level Year 2 Units: - Applying Contemporary Dance - Dance Performance - Choreographing Dances - Apply Contemporary Dance - Jazz Dance - Tap Dance - Exploring Contact Improvisation - Award in the Arts at Silver Level You will also get the opportunity to perform for friends, family and members of the public on a number of occasions and go on a variety of trips and visits to theatres and shows. After successful completion of this course you could progress to: - Higher National Diploma - Degree - Employment - Drama School - Musical Theatre School - Dance College This course is for students who wish to progress to university, specialist dance colleges or employment in the field of dance and Performing Arts.

Entry requirements

A £70 contribution towards theatre trips, visits and a hoodie will be payable at enrolment. There will be costs for pairs of Jazz shoes, ballet shoes and tap shoes. If you are aged 19 or over on 1st September an exam registration fee of approximately £200 will be payable at enrolment.
