English as an Additional Language Beginners

UPDATED 20141110 11:01:00

Who is it for? The class is aimed at migrant workers and asylum seekers who wish to learn English. What do we cover? The Monday group is aimed at learners with very little English which is Entry 1 and 2 level. The classes aim to teach English at the appropriate level, but also to give the skills needed to live in this country. The Tuesday class has three separate groups for beginners (Entry 1), Intermediate (Entry 2/3) and advanced level (Level 1). We also arrange a number of social events through the year, eg day trips to London, Bath etc. The Warren Centre is primarily an adult and family learning centre, in the heart of Shirley Warren on the Shirley Warren Learning Campus site. It has become an important part of the local community, running courses including everything from assertiveness to web design, mother and baby groups to tea dances. The Warren Centre believes that learning is a lifelong process and that people learn best and achieve most when they are given confidence in their own abilities, and when their own ideas and experiences are valued.
