UPDATED 20141110 11:04:26

Alexander technique is a simple method of self- help and powerful tool for self-development. It shows us how to move with maximum freedom and minimal effort. It teaches us to observe and identify harmful postural habits that can be the cause of stress, fatigue and pain. Through physical and mental activity we learn to release unnecessary tension and rediscover balance of mind and body. Itchen College currently provide high quality Adult Education classes in the community and on site. They offer a wide variety of courses, ranging from leisure activities, including Dressmaking, Art, etc, to higher level qualifications such as Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector. Itchen College have a robust quality assurance policy in place and are committed to continuing this for all classes, including community learning. Part time tutors are encouraged to be part of the wider college and are active members of Learning Areas within college, providing support and guidance where necessary. They have a team of trained observers. They are able to provide the wide range of support and equipment necessary, for example they have designated art rooms and computer rooms available for use by community learning students. They are also able to provide additional support and equipment on and individual basis to those learners with special needs. For instance visually impaired students have access to specially designed computer keyboards
