The Association of Accounting Technicians is the world's leading professional membership body for accounting technicians, with over 100,000 members worldwide. Because the AAT Accounting qualification is based around what you would actually do in a working situation, the course is about raising and testing your practical ability, not just your memory. In return you will gain a thorough understanding of practice, not just theory - which will increase your value in the workplace. Completing the course will also develop your confidence, your understanding of IT and your personal effectiveness. Topics studied on this course include: Recording Income and Receipts Making and Recording Payments Preparing Ledger Balances and an Initial Trial Balance Supplying Information for Management Control Computerised Accounts Working Effectively in Accounting and Finance A degree of theoretical knowledge is required and taught, but the emphasis is on practical work. The bulk of the course is taught through practical exercises and case studies. The overall aim is to develop and promote the skill areas that participants need and use in their job roles. On successful completion of this course, students could progress on to AAT Level 3 Diploma course. Most students will be either already working in an accounting environment or aspiring to work in such an environment. The Certificate level is particularly suitable for people with little or no prior accounting knowledge and with little relevant work experience. However, all applicants will receive personal advice from a tutor as to the most appropriate starting point for them.
