On this course you will learn to provide a range of services and treatments: colouring, perming, styling and cutting. Whilst maintaining health and safety and preparing and maintaining the work area, you will also be presenting a professional image. As part of your main programme of study you will work towards a qualification in English, Maths or ICT where appropriate. What units will I be studying? Mandatory units • Ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety • Shampoo, condition and treat hair and scalp • Advise and consult with clients • Style and finish hair • Set and dress hair • Cut hair using basic techniques • Change hair colour • Give customers a positive impression Optional units • Attach hair to enhance a style • Plait and twist hair • Fulfil salon reception duties • Develop and maintain effectiveness at work • Perm and neutralise hair • Promote additional services or products to customers
