The Level 3 Diploma Health and Social Care is for senior care and support staff with supervisory responsibility , providing direct support to clients in all settings. The qualification is made up of a minimum 16 units — 9 core units and a choice of optional units. Units have different credit value and the number of units needed to make up the qualification will vary depending on the optional units chosen. There are 3 pathways within the qualification and learners choose the pathway that reflects their area of work. The pathways enable specialisation of the qualification, learners can choose to follow a generic, dementia or learning disability route. Other specialisms will be developed in the future.
