The Level 2 Diploma Health and Social Care is aimed at front line staff providing direct care and support to clients in all settings. The qualification is made up of a minimum 16 units — 9 core units and 7 optional. The number of units undertaken will depend on the units choosen as units have different credit values. There are 3 pathways within the qualification and learners choose the pathway that reflects their area of work. The pathways enable specialisation of the qualification, learners can choose to follow a generic, dementia or learning disability route. Other specialisms will be developed in the future.
