Horticulture is the industry and science of plant cultivation including the process of preparing soil for the planting of seeds, tubers, or cuttings. Horticulturists work and conduct research in the disciplines of plant propagation and cultivation, crop production, plant breeding and genetic and plant physiology. The work involves fruits, berries, nuts, vegetables, flowers, trees, shrubs, and turf. Horticulture also refers to gardening on a smaller scale. Our Level 1 programme of study is designed to provide an introduction to Horticulture and future progression to Level 2 and 3 Diplomas. All practical activities take place at the Thornes Park Nursery whilst students will study theory subjects at the City Campus. In addition to the main programme of study, you will also study English and Maths.
