The Electrotechnical Technology course is a full-time Level 2 course designed to prepare people for work in the occupation of Electrical Installation. The qualifications have been developed through a national steering group and are designed to meet the needs of the employer. It has been specifically developed for delivery in the College using simulated conditions. Assessment is based on candidates demonstrating their knowledge and practical competence. This course is designed for students who wish to gain a Level 2 qualification in Electrical Installation. Successful achievement of this course offers progression onto the Level 3 qualification, which demonstrates competency as an electrician within the industry. This course is specifically aimed at 16-19yr olds, but some spaces are available for students aged 19 and over. Demand for this course is extremely high and as such you are advised to arrange an interview at an early stage.

Name: CITY AND GUILDS CERTIFICATE IN ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION (ELECTROTECHNICAL TECHNOLOGY) Qualification title: Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology Qualification type: Assessment Assessment of the course is by completionof two major practical assignments. Training includes: Conduit work in PVC and steel Trunking Cable tray Armoured cables and various systems enclosure The two assessments must be completed in a block at the end of the course and involve the installation/testing of various systems and enclosures. This is conducted under strict exam conditions. In addition, there are a series of multiple choice examinations (one for each unit) using the online 'GOLA' examination scheme. Progressing through the course is only possible on successful completion of examinations. Due to the length of time required for the two assignments, candidates are expected to attend on different days to their usual attendance and can expect to be at College from 9am-7pm, if deemed necessary, to complete the work in their allotted scheduled times. Entry requirements

Students are expected to come to college everyday with a scientific calculator, ruler, pencils, coloured pencils, paper and a folder for the classroom. For the workshop there is a mandatory requirement that candidates bring and wear protective overalls and protective footwear at all times during workshop activities. Other protective clothing will be provided and must be worn, for example, safety goggles, and failure to follow this requirement will result in the student being excluded from the workshop until they comply. If you are aged 19 or over on 1st September the exam registration fee payable at enrolment is approximately £85.
