This course is certificated by BSC – The British Computer Society, and will enable you to learn more in depth and advanced computer skills. You will learn how to use the advanced tools effectively within the applications. This course is aimed at the advanced learner who is using IT on a regular basis and is most suitable for learners using IT in the workplace in order to apply knowledge to given situations. It is not advised that learners chose units they do not use on a daily basis. The course comprises the following skills: Advanced text, paragraph column and table formatting. Referencing including footnotes, captions, table of contents, indexes and cross references. Use fields, forms and templates. Apply advanced mail merge techniques and work with automation features such as macros. Use linking and embedding features to integrate data. Use collaboration tools, master/subdocuments and document security features. Use watermarks, sections and headers/footers with a document.

Entry requirements

Learners are required to attend sessions on a regular basis to enable them to achieve the accreditation and it is essential that learners are able to practice skills developed in-between sessions. Learners who wish to complete this course are likely to find it an advantage if they are using at least some of the packages in the workplace. The software being used is MS Windows 7 and MS Office 2010. For learners who do not have access to IT at home computers and support are available in Open Access sessions or at libraries. Books are available for classroom use but need to be purchased if required for home use.
