Aimed at all staff working within the childcare sector The Diplomas are aimed at completing a number of credits to achieve the qualification being gained. Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce This certificate is aimed at Level 2 practitioners within the children and young people’s workforce. The qualification is a generic qualification for the Wider Children’s Workforce which reflects the Common Core and is mapped to the National Occupational Standards in Children’s Care, Learning and Development. The qualification structure consists of a combination of knowledge and competence units at Level 2, but which also contains Level 3 units and a Level 4 unit which aim to build the skills and knowledge required to enable progression to the Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce. Within the childcare Certificate and Diploma there are eleven mandatory units to achieve then there are three pathways that can be chosen dependant on your working environment to complete the required number of credits for the optional units. The three pathways are Early Years, Children Social Care and Learning and Development Support. Each unit has a number of guided learning hours that will be covered through workshops, one to one with assessor/tutors, performance observations and learners own research. Individual units can be completed to enhance your continued professional development if the whole qualification is not required. Depending on eligibility criteria there may be some funding available for gaining the qualification.

We use a secure electronic portfolio system that allows for the use of dictaphones as a good form of evidence gathering. There are workshops avaialble for the knowledge criteria of the units. Candidates will be asked to complete reflective accounts and gather witness testimonies from relevant team members. Assessors will use a variety of written and oral questions.
