e-type is an accredited keyboarding qualification and is a fast and easy way to learn how to touch-type. On completion of the course candidates can gain either the BCS Level 1 or Level 2 Award in Touch-Typing (e-type). By learning to touch-type with all fingers, a typical PC user spending an average of 20 hours a week at a PC could save around 10 hours a week.

You will need to come into College to sit your Assessment and your final test(s). When your tutor is satisfied that you have reached the minimum standard to pass, you will come into College to sit an Assessment test which will indicate whether or not you are ready to take a test for real. The e-type tests consist of five-minute examinations which measure the speed and accuracy of your typing. Marking is electronic so you will be presented with your result on-screen immediately after completion of the test. To pass, candidates must achieve at least 20 words per minute and 98% accuracy. .
