Media Techniques - Television and Video NVQ Level 3 (CG)

UPDATED 20140310 01:09:55

Film and television play an increasingly significant role in our day-to-day lives and, as a result, career opportunities in this field of work have begun to open up, especially with the advent of new technology. Large companies and even small businesses are increasingly realising the potential of promotional videos to develop their image, creating openings for independent video producers to create internet streaming video for a wide range of clients. In addition, the development of digital television has created a huge demand for content and, with it, lucrative opportunities for young people with the right skills. The course is designed to give students a thorough grounding in the techniques of television and video production. Using digital production facilities in the College’s Media Department, you will learn the skills of camera work, lighting, sound engineering, video editing, scripting and storyboarding. Individually and in crews, you will be required to initiate, plan, shoot/script and edit a minimum of five video productions, including dramas, news reports and instructional videos. In addition, you will be required to play an active role in the running of the college online news TV station, producing at least one news report during your course. This is an intensive course and you will be expected to devote a significant portion of time to your studies beyond the timetabled sessions.
