Archaeology of Wessex - Saxon England

The Archaeology of Saxon Wessex from the fifth to the eleventh centuries AD. What is the course about? (Aims) You will be able to understand the ways in which the Northern European groups such as the Saxons, gradually brought in the Anglo-Saxon way of life. Are there specific requirements for joining? A general level of interest in archaeology is helpful but otherwise no prior knowledge is needed. Will there be additional costs? Only sharing transport to the field trip area of Wareham, Dorset - lunch can be brought with you. Do I need specific equipment or clothes? Only outdoor wear and decent walking shoes are needed for the field trip. Course outline (outcomes) A themed week by week approach on aspects such as buildings and settlement and the role of Anglo Saxon women will provide a sound basis for further study if required.
