This qualification is aimed at individuals who have responsibility for the work of others, as they lead a team. It is suitable for people who are entering management, or who have the ability and the opportunity to demonstrate recognisable management and leadership skills, for example, providing leadership for a team, encouraging innovation, allocating and checking work. The proposed new units will allow individuals to demonstrate the skills to participate effectively in meeting and to help team members to address problems affecting their performance. If undertaken as an NVQ only (such as through Train to Gain) then the approximate duration is 9 months. If undertaken as part of an apprenticeship the approximate duration is 12 months.
