The aim is to recognise achievements within the customer service environment, the standards incorporate recognised customer service terinology as requested by employers. Versions of the original units have effectively been retained so that anybody working to present generic patterns can continue to do so, and flexibility allows organisations to focus on individual concerns both in relation to general use of national occupational standards and for qualifications. Specialist units have been introduced based on ICS research, evidence requirements are not included but will be added during qualification design. The S/NVQ structure respons to the consulation demand for flexibility and choice the key features of the structure relate to progression and the ability to build on past success. If undertaken as an NVQ only (such as through Train to Gain) then the approximate duration is 8 months. If undertaken as part of an apprenticeship the approximate duration is 10 months.
