Please consider the following questions before enrolling; You have to see BSL in action to learn it. Can you commit to attending over 80% of your classes so we can help you to succeed? BSL is a visual/gestural language. Are you prepared to do 3 filmed assessments with your tutor to demonstrate your ability in BSL? Are you prepared to pay for any assessments you miss or need to retake? Are you prepared to practise for a minimum of 45 minutes a week between classes (private study or by arranging to meet up with fellow students). Would you be willing and able to use the internet to look at recommended website to help you study? Please inform the college, at enrolment, if you have any additional learning needs, you will be offered an assessment to determine your requirements so that any appropriate support can be put in place at the start of the course. The following learning ladder shows how you can progress through the stages. Year 1 - Level 1 Award in BSL - Signature This course is for beginners and involves learning simple everyday language. You need to achieve all three units to gain the Award. Unit 101 - Introduction to BSL - includes:- * meeting people * using numbers * weather * transport and directions. Unit 102 - Conversational BSL - includes:- * at home - people, animals and objects * using numbers * interests and activities * weather Unit 103 - BSL at School, College or Work - includes:- * getting around * exchanging information * refreshments * using numbers.
