IT Users Certificate Level 2 OCR

UPDATED 20151007 12:44:35

At level 2, work on the different programs becomes more complex and builds on the skills developed at level 1. This qualification is gained by completing assignments based on skills learnt in class and perhaps used in a work setting. Each assignment is worth a number of credit values and candidates must achieve a minimum number of credits (including a mandatory unit which shows understanding of how ICT can help improve productivity). There is a large range of units to choose from - some of the most popular ones are summarised below: * basic file management techniques (moving, naming, deleting, archiving) * security of files (password protection) * creation of word processed documents which incorporate items from other files/programs * mailmerge documents - create merge fields and combine to give selected printouts * creation of presentations using slides which combine text and images, master slides for consistency, automatic timings and transitions * manipulation of spreadsheet data using advanced formulae and functions, and creation of a variety of graphs and charts (xy scatter, line-column, exploded pie etc) * database creation and manipulation, setting up fields, inserting calculated fields, creating queries and reports (columnar and tabular formats) and labels An ability to password protect files has to be demonstrated to ensure authorised users only have access to files and this is a requirement of the assessment. This is an excellent stand alone qualification for someone wanting a career change into an office environment or wanting to gain employment in this sector. Combined with an administration qualification and keyboarding competence. It gives a complete package at this level. It is possible to gain all 3 qualifications in one year through evening study, or consecutive years, depending on personal circumstance and commitment.
