The course leads directly to employment and is the basic qualification required for employment in Dental Technology. The course is taught by experienced, qualified and G.D.C. Registered Dental Technology Tutors in a fully equipped dental technology laboratory. Students study the principles and practical techniques of making appliances in the three primary areas of:- •prosthetics – full and partial dentures •orthodontics – straightening and repositioning teeth, using braces •fixed prosthodontics – restoration of natural teeth, using crowns and bridge work. In addition you will study associated areas of dental anatomy, dental biomaterial science, dental radiography, first aid, law and ethics. In year 1 you will study two full days per week in college. Year 2 consists of two full days in college and two days work placement throughout the year. The college will normally arrange suitable work placements with dental laboratories in the surrounding area. You can arrange your own work placement but the college will need to visit and approve the laboratory providing the placement.
