The course covers three areas of study: Life processes and living things – An overview of the cellular structure and metabolism of humans and other organisms, the role of genetics in life and evolution and the impact of humans on the environment. Materials and their properties – The structure of elements and materials and the way this influences their manufacture and use in the chemical industry. Physical processes – The physical environment of our world and uses of waves, electricity and energy in everyday life.
