Who is it for? As leisure centres and health clubs have evolved so have the staffing needs, it has become clear there is a need for a truly multi-skilled leisure professional. The ICON Leisure professional pathway creates a multi-faceted member of staff who can coach activity sessions/sports, work as a fitness instructor, work at pool/dry side, as well as be proficient at front of house and upselling. We have produced a framework that meets all of these needs and is 100% government funded. What’s included Activity Leadership Level 2 Level 2 Active Leisure Diploma, including: • Gym Instructor Level 2 • Circuits • Kettlebells or Studio Cycling • Employment Awareness • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (if working at a site with a pool) • Pool water testing • Sales • Customer Service/Front of house Maths & English dependent upon prior attainment How ICON training will take you on a journey of between 12 and 20 months, seeing you both at your workplace and in the classroom. The first 13 weeks will focus around completing Maths and English qualifications and the knowledge required to work effectively in the gym or studio environment. After 13 weeks you will be booked on to your Gym & NPLQ course (if applicable) to improve your knowledge in this area whilst your Skills Assessor will meet you in either a group environment, at work or over your Smart Assessor ePortfolio system. From here you will go on to learn how to deliver Circuits, Kettlebells or Studio cycling and how to be an effective leisure operator, coach and fitness professional.
