Sectional Felling CS41 (NPTC)

The course is suitable for arboricultural workers experienced in using a chainsaw from a rope and harness, who wish to develop their skills to remove part crowns, whole crowns or entire trees situated above dropping zones. Candidates must have completed CS30, CS31, CS38, CS39 and have ideally attended a full first aid training course. The course requires both mental and physical agility in the trees and on the ground. Trainees must have a good level of fitness and stamina. Course Content ? Safe working procedures ? Tree surgery equipment ? Pre-use checks ? Working with the grounds person ? Use lowering equipment for lowering vertical and horizontal limbs ? Cutting techniques ? Legislative issues Learning Outcomes Candidates will be able to: 1) Identify, inspect and comment upon key parts of the equipment to be used 2) Prepare the equipment for use ensuring the safety of themselves, other people and the environment 3) Operate a chainsaw whilst maintaining a working position within the crown of a tree using a rope and harness 4) Use lowering ropes and other associated equipment to carry out lowering and sectional felling operations 5) Undertake a range of arboricultural operations without risk to themselves, other people or the environment Course duration 2 day programme plus assessment
