This course is designed to meet the individual needs of employers and operators who use or may need to use All Terrain Vehicles. To ensure that the candidate reaches the required standard in the safe riding and handling of an ATV in off-road situations. Course Content ? Legal requirements and safety regulations ? Pre-start checks and daily maintenance ? Function of controls and interpretation of instrument readings ? Operating ATV safely on level and sloping ground ? Operating ATV with trailed equipment both forward and in reverse ? Health and Safety issues Learning Outcomes Candidates will be able to: 1) State legal and safety requirements relating to the use of ATV?s 2) Carry out appropriate pre-start checks on the ATV 3) Take appropriate action arising from checks 4) Conduct a Risk Assessment of the task to be undertaken 5) Explain additional considerations that need to be made when riding an ATV with a trailed attachment 6) Prepare for work. 7) Select and wear appropriate PPE 8) Start the ATV 9) Handle the ATV safely on rough terrain including slopes. 10) Attach a trailer or trailed attachment securely to the ATV safely, 11) Manoeuvre vehicle on a variety of terrain whilst towing, including reversing Course duration 1 day training followed by a practical assessment - 2 days if inexperienced
