You will be a logical thinker and enjoy problem-solving. You will study a wide range of topics including the structure and function of the processor; types of processor; input, output and storage- operating systems; application generation; an introduction to programming; databases; computer networks; web technologies; data types; data structures; Boolean algebra; computing related legislation and ethical, moral and cultural issues. You will learn theory in the first year in preparation for the hands-on programming into the second year. In your second year you will learn how to program in a programming language in addition to theory topics. You will work using updated and modern technologies and tools to prepare in both your written and practical assessments. Students often progress to a computing or technical degree and follow a technical career in the computing industry, business or engineering.
