This specification encourages you to develop a broad range of skills and knowledge of computing as a basis for progression into further learning, including progression from AS to A2, and/or employment in computing-related fields. This A Level will teach you all about how computers work and about how their data is stored and transmitted. We'll teach you about everything from programming and networks to hardware and information processing. We'll also show you how to use computers in businesses and all sorts of other places and you'll even learn loads of design, production and testing skills too. You develop a basic knowledge and understanding of computing side by side with practical skills. Year 1 (AS Level) • Unit 1 - Acquiring knowledge and understanding of software, system development, data and applications • Unit 2 - Analyse, design, implement, test and evaluate a solution to a given problem requiring the production of original code (programming). Year 2 (A Level) • Unit 3 - This unit is about acquiring additional knowledge and understanding of software, system development, data and applications • Unit 4 - The Practical Project.
