This course is aimed at people who have successfully completed the Level 1 Diploma in Bricklaying and are not already working in the sector. Successful completion of this course is one of the entry requirements for progression onto the Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying, which is normally studied on a part-time basis. It is possible that successful completion of this course may facilitate progression onto an Apprenticeship or Advanced Apprenticeship programme. Course Content The following units are all mandatory and provide developing skills for anyone working in the industry: 1. Carry out safe working practices in construction 2. Information, quantities and communicating with others 3. Building methods and construction 4. Interpret working drawings to set out masonry structures 5. Thin joint masonry and masonry cladding 6. Build solid walling, isolated and attached piers 7. Build cavity walling forming masonry structures
